THE REALITY CHECK
The
reason why the world lacks unity, and lies broken and in heaps, is, because man
is disunited with himself.
By Ralph
Waldo Emerson
In a
country of 1.25 billion people where 2-5% of it enjoys the luxury of owning
80-85% wealth and resources. 60% people lives below poverty line and enjoys
their livelihood at 32 rupees a day. Where an Economist leads the country as a
PM and thinks that rising SENSEX is the true measure of country’s growth and
decisions are being taken on the basis of the credit ratings provided by the
credit rating agencies that are mainly responsible for 2008 debacle in US when
they have given the AAA+ ratings to the most companies who filed the bankruptcy
much earlier than others i.e., Lehman Brothers, Merrill Lynch, AIG etc..
In a
country where a women CM of a major state says that a budget of Rs 600 a month
is well enough for the livelihood of a 5 member family, where number of judges
and courts can’t be increased as it will reduce the defense budget which is
unlikely in the presence of neighbors like Pakistan, Bangladesh and China, even
if it is responsible for a rape in every 22 minute in the country.
In the
same country when a father is forced to sell his daughter or force his daughter
in to prostitution because of poverty, in the same country if you think that
one day the condition of women will definitely improve and in future we will
see a generation of empowered women, then am very sorry to say that either your
brain has stopped working properly or you are the biggest fool on earth who still
thinks that a Gandhi – Nehru family heir, Rahul Gandhi will bring a drastic
change in the country and one day it will happen.
That
is why there is a statement at the start of this article which proves that this
is the only reason why we are in such a pathetic position. This is the time when we don't need consensus, we need sense; where we don't need a relation, we need a family. We know its tough at a time when material values are much higher than spiritual values, but its not at all impossible as if we improve the country will definitely improve.
